Thanks, Sumisu. But, not so much my cup of tea. I agree that the USG is asleep at the switch on energy, and that we are likely to have some unpleasant contacts with reality (like the 1973 crunch that I can just barely remember) but cannot really buy into the full doomsday scenario. I can remember people saying that we would have no oil by Y2k, when I was a kid. Our technology is improving and higher oil prices will support higher extraction costs, so I personally believe that there is a lot more oil on the planet, just not so much easy oil. Plus, we still have a potent military, if we need it, and can control this hemisphere if we have to.

At the same time, I certainly do agree that oil/gas prices are likely to go substantially higher, and am convinced (for world economic reasons) that commodities will be a good investment for the rest of my life time, barring a major war or something along that lines.
