You are simply stating the obvious. Of course the steady state model is well known and works but that assumes that the situation is a steady state one, which is not necessarilly the case with prostate cancer incidence and deaths, and hence the argument...

Over a period of several years ... is your age steady state? Is your income steady state? Are the number of miles on your car's odometer steady state?

Is the number of absurd statements made per day on "Biotech Values" such as "Steady state is a well-known math model that always works" steady state?
