It takes a real gambler to go against the home team. I have a friend that does not have a bookie so he can tell his wife that he is not a gambler. He calls me with his bets on the home teams. If I do not like the bet I just put the money in my pocket. Sort of like a market maker betting against a pinky player. Sometimes I have to pay up but not often.
