Sadness.
I could never give up Sadie.
She is 7 years old. Her dad is a pure bred Golden Retriever and her mom is a pure bred Golden Lab.
The dad caught mom before the breeders could mate her with another lab. We rescued Sadie as he was going to destroy all the pups. It took a bit of doing, as we had to promise to get her fixed. Which we did along with one of her brothers, a beautiful black Lab we named Barkley.
At the time we lived in Montana on the Yellowstone. Everday the 2 and their dad who was a neighbor's dog would go swimming in the river.
About a year later Sadie came home from the river alone. We never saw Barkley again. Never knew what became of him.
We had to rush Sadie to the vet at least twice every summer to get porkypine quills removed from her mouth and deep into her throat and all about her face.
The vet said she would never stop doing it no matter how much the pain. It was like a vendetta. It went on for 3 years until one day she brought home the head of the Porcupine.
She never did it again.
I think she misses those times living here in Vegas.
