Well, the idea in this case, is that the ammonia comes from waste water, or more specifically, urine (sorry to gross anyone out). So yes, this new technology requires that we pump urine into our vehicles LOL! But most likely, they would have a process to extract the ammonia from waste water, which is easy to do with the right organic solvent. The real issues with this technology are that the kinetics of the reaction is slow (producing hydrogen gas at a slow rate) and the reaction is not spontaneous (meaning that imput energy is required). I will allow for this, that the first problem of kinetics may be fixed by a catalys, which is a substance that, when present, can speed up the reaction without being used up in the reaction. But a catalys for this type of reaction may not exist.
