Tinroad ...
I notice that there are two different boxes [?} ... one has "ARM" on it, and the other says "DSP with Hardware Accelerator". Could this mean that there are two processors ??
Also, the following is from PortalPlayer`s website ...
system-on-chip
PortalPlayer's platforms include system-on-chip (SoC) technology optimized for portable music devices. The first was based on dual ARM7TDMI® microprocessor cores to provide twice the performance of alternative devices. This performance advantage enabled support for complex encoders and watermarking algorithms, audio post-processing effects such as stereo expansion, and networking connectivity enhancements. The SoC was also designed to directly support virtually all flash media and rotating media including CD-R/W and hard drives. It included on-chip SRAM and cache, an LCD controller and an LCD bridge interface.
I know I`m in way over my head here, but could there be a separate processor just to handle the encoding/decoding ??
In any event, I suspect that the reference design displayed in the TI booth probably had a least one TI DPS, and I would sure hope it had our MicroOS inside.
TIA
