sea...

"For a while I may have agreed with you on that but no more. You honestly believe that neither Bush, nor Cheney understood the implication of suspending habeas corpus in terms of assaulting the constitution?"

Just as in your last post on the subject, you take a liberal position, back it up with another liberal's opinion, and then assume it is unassailable, which of course it is not. Far from it. Many agree with Bush's position on this matter, including Constitutional scholars and, humbly, myself. The suspension of the writ of habeas corpus is only for specific limited circumstances, and is not being suspended within the US for its citizens -- and please, do not argue that the Constitution applies to non US citizens -- it does not. It is not needed in this case, but the argument could easily be made that the attack on 9/11, along with other attacks against us by the Islamists, constituted an invasion under the Constitution and as a result of those attacks we are in a de facto war.

"And you also believe that Cheney really doesn't understand that he's part of the executive branch? I watch and read a lot of political news and I honestly can't recall a single conservative who felt they could side with Cheney on this nonsense."

On that particular statement, I believe the VP lost his senses. Not only is the argument rather vapid, but it is totally unnecessary. The executive branch has full constitutional power to do all that it did, and it also has the protection of executive privilege. It was a waste of time and energy to argue as he did. That hardly gives evidence that he is out to abrogate the Constitution, though.

"Tells you everything you need to know. They don't respect the constitution but they respect the right to crap on it for the purpose of maintaining power at any cost. And you seem to like that which makes you the kind of conservative that seem to defy everything they used to stand for."

Thank you for the liberal screed. Infer that which cannot be inferred from their actions, and do the same for me.

As I said in my original post on the subject, only those totally divorced from reality believe the Bush/Chaney administration is out to abrogate the Constitution or is out for a power grab to take over the country. It appears that you fit the bill. And as for you "might have agreed with me" on the subject at one time, just what time was that?? Give me a break -- you have been screeching against Bush ever since I can remember, never once saying that you approved of anything he did. You have accused him of stealing both elections, and being everything short of the devil incarnate. Try not to be quite so disingenuous.
