A great deal of contestants on game shows are friends, neighbors, distant relations of staff or suppliers to the shows. I do not think perferential treatment is illegal.
I do envision paying someone with connections to a show, especially management, to get you on a show is probably illegal; or a promise to invest.
Would find it difficult to believe that either Shaefer would put themself in that type of position, if that who you are talking about.
Nothing is out of the question, and that is why hearing both sides' opinions on this Board makes it so valuable.
