#1549 RE: grafix-max #1548

Max, H3's recent PR says "opening this fall" and although AMC can build the interior in 5 or 6 weeks in Tampa and probably are right now, I don't want to infer an opening date from that or bless some of the other opening date projections on this Board.

Because, we've had surprises and delays before trying to open a SodaShop. A lot could happen including a major hurricane which even if it doesn't hit Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater could have an impact on this area because after it hits, construction resources for the whole state go into an emergency mode. So if Miami got hit, construction resources are diverted to Miami to rebuild and recover that area rapidly. Shortages of construction resources would be experienced in other parts of the state. Shortages could last for months. So even if we don't get hit, the SodaShop may not be able to get everything (building materials and certain contractors)it needs in a timely manner (or price, construction prices shot up because of limited availability). Prime time for hurricane season, to me is next month. The Weather Bureau doesn't end the hurricane season till December 1st but from my experience if we get past Labor Day in early September, we'll be all right.

Let me instead give you this rule of thumb for SodaShop completion which I've heard from my good friend, who I spoke with a few days ago in the SodaShop parking lot in the shade of a large tree, although it was still pretty darn hot. Here it is, "When you see in my pictures, the interior furnishings and furniture is all installed, that's when an opening date can start to be considered" One of the sub-contractors, who has been involved with many restaurant openings down here, told me "the end is always worse than the beginning" Meaning you run into things at the end that delay your opening that you weren't expecting. So that 1-2 weeks for inspections you mentioned may be longer till you get your certificate of occupancy (CO). Only after you receive your CO, can you hire a restaurant staff and it'll take at least 2-3 weeks to train them, so you can do a soft opening. Ya gotta buy the food, stock the coolers. Will the new SodaShop menu be ready? Dr Ben has somebody working on it now. They're not gonna serve hamburgers and fries. It's supposed to be all healthy food. So, it's an entirely different menu from a similar size restaurant. They can't steal the usual stuff from some other restaurant menus because they're not gonna have fried food and burgers. (supposedly, so why is there 2 new deep fat fryers in the kitchen?)
