HailMary, that is very nice 20-20 hindsight -
think this socket transition is hurting AMD. 939 should have been there at launch (of desktop parts).
I'm sure everyone at AMD wishes this, also. However, there comes a time in developing new product that you have to put a stake in the ground, develope and ship. That stake was socket 754. By the time the need for dual DIMM desktops became apparent it was a little too late for 2003.
Besides, I don't see any evidence that AMD64 sales are hurting from socket 754. A64 is getting great reviews and fetching good prices in the market.
Patience - socket 939 will soon be here. :)
