Waggett, under Saddam's regime I can understand that, but with America helping Iraq to become Democratic, I see that changing. Just examine the equity sharing propoasals being worked out right now with The Central Government, with the Kurds and Sunnis where most of the oil is.

I think the temperment is in the air already with the Iraqis, that they will be seeing a significant increase in their living conditions via Oil Equity Sharing. In fact, I think that is what this War boils down to.

Waggett- I am curious what did it cost at that time to feed an average Family, or pay rent etc.? I am glad to see different points being brought forth.I agree with people that at the current rates of Income Iraq would be GIVING away vast resources that should and do rightfully belong 1st to the Iraqi People. Were the workers paid in US DOLLARS or DINARS at the time ? Do you know for sure. I know there are many Companies there waiting for passage of the HCL, I wonder what form of currency they will pay in? When I think that the Average Jurneyman Carpenter in our Local makes 160.00 USD = 199,968.00 IQD PER DAY, Not counting any Overtime ,that's a whopping $3,200.00 USD = 3,999,360.00 IQD for 20 days work.
it makes me wonder what the average Parent there could do for his Family with such an income. And some of us here think we have it tough making ends meet. Any insight you can give is most appreciated. I pray peace finds it way there for all the people. Rick c
