I believe US Turbine used to be owned by Connie Kalitta as adjunct to his airfreight business (to fund Drag Racing). I was there a few years ago as they were doing re-org to focus on narrower range of engines for more efficiency. I would know more if I had captured that order for a balancing machine and tooling. There is a large amount of corporate jet business around Detroit - not hard to believe! Also there are plenty of shops to do high precision machining.
It would not surprise me to find that their problem was wide area marketing. There is a "50 mile radius" mentality up there.
They would definitely be a good engine distributor for the area and a good sub contract manufacturer too.
