Are you saying then Lakers that the chip carrier alone is Apple's and contains 2 die, 1 being the Marvell's ARM and the other being Samsung's memory? Could be but I would have expected a larger chip carrier.

A Straight Flush is a beautiful thing. Thanks Lakers for all the spot on chip insight and S2 for all the time/energy you have put into this board. Monday's open is going to be fun!!!

Lakers- I'm taking your word for it. Tech wise, you've been the most detailed and the clearest on this board. (There are others that have great knowledge in this area as well)

The Question is "how will the street know the answer?" If SJ doesn't say anything and he was able to keep Marvell from stamping it, maybe he's asked them to not say anything to keep the interest at peak.

Am I right that Apple was working with Intel during the testing process for these PXAxxx series chips? (I believe I remember that correctly.) That would also make it a no-brainer.

I'm also in the boat that says "No way I give anybody anything that allows them to take market from me (Apple using Sam Chip)in this world....not even a little.

Thanks for sharing!! Please continue to help clear up this question for the board. There are some with TONS of $$$ riding on this and I'd really hate to see them (After hold through all this past yr.) sell because they're just not sure.

Regards,
Bill

Lakers, you make sense in that arguement, but I don't agree - yet. I'm not convinced that's a MRVL chip combined with Sam mem. I just think that they would have put some kind of MRVL symbol on it as every other chip in that damn thing has their company's symbol. That's the only one that has neither Sam or MRVL.

So, since both don't have it, AAPL puts theirs on it?

I'm so confused. But this much I do know -

1)We are in with wifi
2)MRVL just got a huge PR boost from that alone
3)The stock moved up on just the wifi expectation
4)All RIMM phones are Xscale and sell 2 mill a quarter
5)We know they do infact stack the processors with the mem
6)We've just never seen that done before or what it looks like
7)Until now?
8)Someone out there in the investment world in fact has figured this out by now. The stock will go up just on the wifi and the fact that we clearly broke out of a major resistance level on HUGE volume.
9)If someone has figured out that what you say is true about the Xscale stack, then I think we very well could see $20 next week.

I'm not convinced in Xscale yet. I'm going with Samsung for two reasons - 1)Every single expectation from day one turned out to be right one. They knew who had the contracts here. 2)No sign of MRVL on that chip.

I do agree though that AAPL is stupid to use Samsung for the app processor when they are blatantly out there marketing a competing product against AAPL. If Samsung does have the processer in the iPhone, AAPL has to be extremely pissed about their behavour lately.

So are you saying the ARM processor is a Samsung part? Cause from the picture below it looks to be an Apple stamped part. Thanks.

BTW, I hope MRVL has more than that old 802.11b/g chip in there. Cause those don't cost very much. If the iPhone had the 802.11n standard it would be a different matter, but unfortunately it does not.
