Laker is right. K4X1G153PC-XGC3 is memory component!
Who provided the baseband stack?

Okay Laker, let's just 'bottom line' it all ----

We know MRVL has the wi-fi chip because, well, it says "MARVELL" right on it.

That's a full house.

Now, are you SURE that chip in that pic above is Xscale PXA 300? Absolutely SURE????? The fact that it's an ARM I think pretty much puts the debate to rest because we know it's not Samsung. And all the talk about TXN getting the deal with OMAP is therefore out.

That leaves only MRVL. So, you obviously know this stuff for some reason. I don't know what you do for a living but I assume it's something close to this biz. That said, I ask again -- YOU SURE????

The reason I ask is because to 'bottom line' it all, if we have both the Wi-Fi AND App Processor, then the value of MRVL just grew by about at least $3 to $4 a share. Why? ---

Over the weekend all the analysts are going to be crunching the numbers know they know what's inside. They'll add it all up and they are not going to care about AAPL. They are going straight for the suppliers. If MRVL has the Royal Flush here, then I assume there'll be a ton of either upgrades or clear mentions of what this means to MRVL. In other words, we'll get the much deserved press we've waited for.

All of a sudden, MRVL is going to become something looked at as something completely different than a 'storage' company. I think we will be put into the realm of a RIMM/AAPL/PALM, or whatever.

This is extremely huge. If you doubt me, watch next week.

Excellent. I kept coming back to Samsung memory ref. with that # too but your explanation works well. That means iPhone is not trying to use the flash for cpu operations but has it's own .5GB of DDR. And this IC package helps explain the exteme compactness of the PCB assembly.

But why not PXA320? (for computing performance)? worth more to MRVL but delivers better perform. for iPhone and perhaps longer battery life via shorter time at full clock speeds.

Remember this old Info Week article from January '07
http://www.informationweek.com/news/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=197003973
which actually referenced the PXA320, though this may simply have been the cpu family ref.

Laker, correct me if I'm wrong --- you're the expert here - that chip is stamped with a Samsung memory number indicating it's a Samsung flash chip. But it's also a stamped ARM chip. So, it's a combined or stacked chip with both the CPU and flash memory. Right?

So, where in the writing suggests it's PXA and not a combined Samsung flash/CPU chip???

You're suggesting it's a MRVL Xscale/Samsung flash combo chip, correct??

most funds should have the reports on Monday, as iSuppli already has the chip identified. can someone who has money buy one and post here? :-)

my guess is that Apple wouldn't co-op with SAMsung on cpu, doesn't make sense to let's a major competitor to know all your chip's secret. my guess is MRVL 90%, 5% on MOTO and SAMSUNG.
