Sbc is increasing cap ex expectations..top end by 10%


CHICAGO, Jan 6 (Reuters) - SBC Communications Inc. (NYSE:SBC - News), the second-largest U.S. local telephone company, on Tuesday said it expects 2004 capital spending to total $5 billion to $5.5 billion.
The forecast excludes the company's Cingular Wireless joint venture.

In November, SBC said it expected 2004 capital spending to be $5 billion, barely changed from what it expected to spend in 2003.
