Golfgame, can you elaborate? Are you saying that because people are buying at the ask, this allows shorts to...to..what? I'm not getting at what you are driving at. If there is a short position, they are trying to cover, or at least prevent the stock form moving up. I'm not sure they want to be shorting more, but just to be willing to short more to prevent the stock from moving up. The key is they want others to sell into the bid, as they are not supposed to be able to sell into the bid.
