McCloud... if you believe you can get water out of a rock (i.e. chunk of granite) and you drill on it, wack it with a hammer, throw it against the wall, all along believing that eventually you will get water out of the rock - you'd be in the same camp you are with RIM. No matter how long you work at it - you're not going to get water out of a rock. It's not a matter of being patient. It's not a matter of "just one more day", or of "not stopping 1 day short of victory". One more day (not quitting) isn't going to get water out of a hunk of granite, no matter how hard you believe, no matter how long you stick to the task.

RIM is the same IMO. They simply aren't capable. It's not a matter of time, patience, persistence, or believing. Evidence shows RIM's mgt team is interested in one thing - benefiting themselves. Evidence shows they're far better at writing a story than performing, delivering, or successfully generating revenues.

Your belief that those who don't give up more often win than not is noble. I'll even say - I agree. I live that way myself. Very few people stick with tough situations longer than I do, if I can say so myself. I'll always go that extra mile, and in my life - it has paid off.

But IMO your beliefs are grossly misappropriated when applied to RIM, and more specifically Ray and Brad. They don't deserve your trust. They don't deserve your application of noble character. They belong in a place where keys are used to lock doors and those keys should be tossed into the deepest ocean. IMO - the mgt team of RIM is only interested in themselves. I've yet to see a single piece of evidence otherwise.

Water from a rock..... that's the same impossibility IMO as RIM producing a commercially successful high volume ASSP. Even if they had something that could be developed, they neither have the desire, motivation, finances or management skills to compete in telecommunications field. Believing one day longer is nothing more than a waste of one more day or your precious life.

Now - if you must - keep banging away on the rocks... but don't hold your breath that RIM will deliver. That's simply impossible. They don't have the right "stuff" to get it done.
