I agree. The two terms that come to mind for me are "Fuzzy Wuzzy Fallacy" and "Big Dumb Boosters". In many cases lots of smaller,cheaper,"worse" items/units can outperform "better" items/units.
The same thing that makes Battleships a bad idea makes the terrorist with a shoulder fired missle a "good idea" from the military standpoint (I don't mean to sound pro terrorism, it's just more effecient to destroy than protect)
Your right my good man, however "Battleship Diplomicy" worked very well for many years. Old hat now though.
