While I respect your opinion and sage advice, I believe times are different now. I believe field trials are imminent or maybe already begun. They are or will be kept under wraps for obvious reasons. As for the extended time it is taking, Rim is doing this on a shoestring and having to raise money on a shoestring.
AS for the progression of the share price shown by Microsoft, in those years the computer industry was just emerging and was not known to be the giant it has become. It is a giant now and the telcos are struggling to hold onto their customers. They must find a way to compete with cable and wireless providers. This a hugely different scenario and will cause faster growth. I expect sp and bottom line growth to be much faster than you expect, but slower than some of us expect.
