Hey, while we're twiddling our thumbs, the weight of the earth...


Jens Gundlach and Stephen Merkowitz from the University of Washington have found that the Earth weighs in at 5.972 sextillion (5,972,000,000,000,000,000,000) metric tons. While this is just a shade under the current textbook estimate of 5.98 sextillion metric tons, it could make all the difference to nailing down the gravitational constant, or Big G.

I Would have to assume that those tunnages would not be actuall gold but more to the point
Earth n gravel that would be run through production
and actually yielded an undisclosed number of grams (or fractions of ounces) per ton of source material,
if there is gold left, thats wonderful, and irrelavant today

But the real issue is, can we build ya some houses....

292 billion tons of gold is pure nonesense. I will do some research, but to my knowledge,if you took all of the gold ever mined from the dawn of time till now, it would be a tiny fraction of that number.
