OT: There are some good prices in Texas but your real property taxes offset the bargains. Alabama has more expensive houses but cheaper taxes. Add the fact that they don't tax military or other retirement makes the overall cost to live, less than Texas...but, it's Alabama. I have a condo in Austin. Condo is relatively inexpensive, but the taxes are over $5000 a year. Same thing in Alabama would have taxes of about $1000. Apples/oranges I guess.
