The signs we(*) typically use to track volumes is based largely on demand for those items. When supply is limited in the case of both Pentium 4EE and Athlon 64-FX, the product with greater demand will be seen less because the turn around for those parts is faster than the manufacturer can produce them. My assumption is that the Intel product is in higher demand than the AMD product, and that's based solely on the fact that Intel has 5x the market share overall (and probably significantly larger mind share, one way or the other).

* By "we", I mean the investors on the board who have no better information than availability in channel enabled retail stores.
