doug, apparently hardocp contradicts the source I posted. They think Intel will introduce the low-clock 533 Mhz Prescotts just to fullfill market requirements, essentially underclocking them. That will make them the overclocker's heaven.

The overclockers.ru site is claiming that this batch is coming from the faulty B0 stepping, which is unstable on 800 Mhz fsb and that was the reason of not selling it in Q4 with 800 Mhz fsb. Intel must have a lot of those. We should learn very very soon.


Edit: yes, reading it carefully I agree that this is motherboard requirement. I don't think there are any sockets requirements except that it should have the proper amount of holes to stick pins in.

Motherboard or socket, whatever the bottleneck is to get enough power into the CPU.
