Voice recog...

interesting, YMMV, but it has never taken off as far as I've seen. I know my low end cell phone from about four years ago had voice recog for dialing (you trained it for each name). Never worked well (even though it only had to choose from the limited vocabulary of pre-trained sounds). I remember over-hearing other people trying to 'call home' and give up after it started dialing the pizza place. ("Dear Aunt, let’s set so double the killer delete select all.")

I just asked my kids, no one they know uses voice activated dialing.

I just tried it. Wow - it worked great. Thanks, I was not aware of it. 1-800-GOOG-411 is going into all our cell phone-books. Those guys are geniuses, good thing they got one of them on Apple's board.

And, just for fun, type a 'get directions' into Google Maps with a start point in Europe and the end point in the USA. Check the step-by-step when you reach the Atlantic :)
