I think that's a useful help for option writers. We don't risk that the stock will fly away right after earnings (not that this ever happened). WIll it decrease voaltility? Probably not...
Could be. Whatever the reason is or the reasons are, looking at it from a reasonable distance it does not matter much. As I brought it up, I should probably adjust my perspective looking at it.
