Well, it matters to me, that´s why I asked. I was only interested in the technical side.

But now that you mention it, I expect Linux to become a real challenger on the desktop, even if that may be dual-boot partitions (Windows and Linux) in the beginning. SUN´s JDS looks interesting, but I think IBM will be the one to watch here.
