I don't know the percentages but it would seem a significant subset of patients with fibroids wouldn't be eligible for the procedure:

1) Only for women who have given up childbearing.

2) Fibroids close to sensitive organs such as the bowel or bladder and those outside the image area cannot be treated.

The cost of Exablate also excessive because of the time tying up an MRI machine. It also likely doesn't work that well which accounts for the only 3000 case since 2004. GE wanted me to start doing the procedure. After looking at the data and the cost to patients (which many times was thousands out of pocket) I felt it was a quasi-sham procedure.
