Of course, AMD has plans to target Itanium markets, but this not gonna happen in the next 6-10 months.

Itanium does not have a market yet. A better way to say this is that the target market of Itanium and Opteron will overlap.

With Intel's decision to adopt AMD64 within the next 18 months, AMD doesn't need to target Itanium. Intel shot a bullet right through its 374mm die.
