drjohn, by "struggle at 90nm" I am purely referring to power issues, not production.

Yes I think its safe to say power usage was not what intel had hoped for, but there are reports today of 105 watts for athalon64. So power usage at 90nm may be a tuffer nut to crack then what was expected. Personally I think the power usage and the fact intel wanted to milk thier polished 130nm process for loads of money is the reason you can't buy a prescott in 2003.
