Very true, and sad. Today, bombarded with multi-media, and the ability to communicate across the world from a desktop, we know more about what's happening in France than what's happening 2 doors down.
I long for the days when new neighbors were greeted with cakes and cookies. When neighborhoods had block parties.
My neighbor 4 doors down died of a heart attack 3 months ago and I just found out last week.
I blame myself for my own self serving nature and indifference. It was a wake up call for me to focus more on my local community and dedicate more time to people in need.
We can bring back the country we used to have. It must happen one person at a time.
