How big is the latency penalty for registered dual-channel vs. unregistered single-channel memory?

I think a better question would be the penalty between dual channel registered and unbuffered, or Socket 940 vs. 939. I don't know the answer, but according to some posters on aces, the penalty for registered memory is 1 memory clock cycle.

Then there is Socket 754 vs. 939, where the latency of 939 should be the same or lower, bandwidth being higher, up to 2x, or the need of apps to use more bandwidth.
