Have you ever taken a nonlinear dynamics course? I assure you that 'chaos theory' does not say anything of the sort. This is just an example of the distorted junk math that you'll find in the worst of the 'pop-math' books out there.
Generally, from observing these "TA" posts, it's become apparent to me that there is a huge deficiency in educational emphasis on the scientific method and experimental design methodology, not to mention basic logic and critical thinking skills. This stuff should be taught to high school students. Over and over again.
