If an IPSL standard existed, I might buy into what you said. However, there is no IPSL standard and consequently there are no IPSL specifications. I can be easily proven wrong by having the specs. published.

The simple fact is that players in the telecommunications industry, (where I work) have written off the fixed wireline network. They understand that the low hanging fruit (Broadband customers close to the central office) have pretty much been picked. They also understand that once they try and extend the reach via VDSL, it is far too problematic.

Bottom line, the copper network is not the future and large telcos will not waste their R and D dollars on an aging infrastructure of old copper wires. IPSL, VDSL so what. You still have to deal with the physical properties of bundles of old copper wires that work fine in an analog world but aren't going to cut it digitally.

If Brad and Ray were truly clever, they would get quit beating the copper horse and come up with something wireless, satellite-based, liquefied coal, or anything hydrogen related.

The IPSL SIG is nothing more than the latest smokescreen. Analagous to Anna Nicole and the cable networks.
