It is clear that AMD stock price has spiked anytime "rumors" of Private Equity or other sale of the company hits the wires. It is no surprise that the company has fueled the rumor mill once again. I have yet to listen to the conference call, but was AMD directly asked about this or did management conveniently slip this in?
No need to 'slip it in,' it was a no-brainer that at least one of the analysts would be asking the question.
AMD was asked about a pending private equity deal and they gave a non-answer. Something like: We are alway ready to consider anything that is good for our shareholders if and when it arises.
There was no comment on whether an equity deal is in the works.
