Paul, If Intel has a significant performance advantage, it is extremely bad for AMD. Look at the pricing history when that has happened. AMD saying "well, our chips require less power" doesn't make up for a performance deficit. Sure Intel will get some flack from reviewers about the cooling necessary... buried on page 13 of a review titled "Intel takes commanding lead in performance".

You can argue any point from many sides. I'm not saying power is an insignificant issue. I am saying that performance (hence clockspeed) is the much bigger factor.

But perhaps in this case, Intel will be saddled with both mediocre clock scaling AND terrible power dissipation. :)
