You don't lose DOS ability in XP. It's right there in the start menu...

XP is worth it. I absolutely love XP Pro.

I use DOS in XP all the time. Start, Run, type "cmd" and hit Enter.

Except that I use WordStar and dBase and batch files up the kazoo.

WTMHouston...FWIW, I recently ugraded my Commodore 64 & got Windows XP. I had a DOS based bookkeeping program on my old machine, installed it on this new one & it is working fine on this new system.
