Etrade International Trading

Anybody here have experience with Etrade's new international platform that they've been touting?

Specifically, I'd like to know if you can place order directly on other exchanges, or if you still have to go thru a market maker, in which case it probably isn't anything new.

IB and L2 type access....

I've debated opening an IB account myself but I'm not sure I have enough volume to justify the hassle of multiple accounts and the need to transfer money back and forth. However, one thing I've really wanted is L2 for Canadian stocks or at least real-time quotes. It is difficult for me to buy and sell with the 15-20 minute delayed quotes because I'm not sure what price to enter. So, I usually just look at the delayed bid/ask, convert to USD, and then decide my price. It is fine when the market is flat but when the market is moving it can be very difficult.

Does anyone know a good L2 or RT service for canadian stocks. Also, if they have L2 for US pink sheet stocks that would be great as AMTD still doesn't have that.

One thing that I do recommend is not using stockhouse's currency conversion when buying and selling. I've found that using www.xe.com is much, much better. Stockhouse gets you close but close is not good enough when buying and selling.
