sgolds
I wonder if the little bit of insider selling in the last month may be weighing on the stock right now. Nothing by Jerry or Hector yet but still some shares have been sold which means some executives may not be as optimistic on AMD short term. I just noticed the recent insider selling today so it must have been updated this week.

Sgolds,
Of course, Sun has no other choice. Osborne effect - they cannot be seen as abandoning the SPARC architecture suddenly, even if they do plan to migrate to AMD. If they do want to migrate SPARC to AMD64 then it will be done in a politically correct manner. Most likely by presenting the fig leaf of IP contributions to K9, which can then be presented as the successor generation to SPARC. It takes time.

I still think hat SUN objective is pretty clear. They want to share their R&D with Fujitsu. Unless I hear that Fujitsu is abandoning Sparc I'd not believe any of the Sparc's doom stories. It's pretty clear that "throughput computing" (which is Sparc's main point) and Opteron are pretty different products. IMHO, There is place for both of them in Sun's strategy. So, I don't see in any way Sparc and Opteron competitors, generally. The only unproven and immature competitor Sparc has is IA and it'll be very hard for some not infamous PC company to turn some established IT managers into an early paying [edited] high end beta testers.
