Crystallex International Corp. UPDATE: Venezuela To Adjust Crystallex Deal Under New Law - Vice Minister
- Venezuela will likely convert mining company Crystallex International Corp.'s (KRY) operating contract into a mixed company with the state firmly in control, according to the terms of a new mining law, the country's mining vice minister said late Monday. "The (Crystallex) contract has some clauses that will need to be revised," Vice Minister Ivan Hernandez, "It will move from being a contract to a mixed company (jointly with the government)." Chavez will use his special presidential powers to approve the new mininglaw sometime before the end of the year, meaning the government could then renegotiate mining deals "similar to the renegotiation with oil" said Hernandez.
