Fred-Gateway sells cameras etc with its own branding(they look like a mixture of Canon etc) - they have a 5mp camera, for example, that is under $300 with rebates. They also sell brand names right along side of their own branded items.
I believe (opinion, not a fact!) that Gateway does know what it's doing and we will soon see ;-)
