Right your statement is based on the fact that the valuation is being done in the deal making and the deal will show us where the values of the current company and stock will be after completion of the restructuring/buyout etc. I am aware of that but it would be nice if we had our own common shareholder way to analyze this before the fact since those more in the know tend to be able to capitalize on any effects of the deal has on our shares. Your probably right in assuming that we wont know that but need to hold shares first in order to see the appreciation ( assumed ) in our shares.
You never know.... often times we could come up with a way to value the assets of the company and even more important the future understanding of markets and future revenues in such a way that the "deal" ends up more favorable to us as shareholders. Since I have seen many ideas baked into a companies bottom line coming from shareholders or outsiders to the company it is not pie in the sky to think that we could help everyone including insiders understand the true value of our stock.
