Until I understand the improvements going into this, it all sounds like a PR plug. Turion was also a "NEW" mobile CPU, but in reality it was an equivalent K8 with lower power transistors and a new mask set.

Sure, that would be an improvement, and there may be more. If we assume the best case, then this "NEW" design will have all the most power efficient enhancements of K10, without any of the inefficient ones. It would therefore be somewhat in between the performance and power deltas of K8 and K10, but with preference towards maximal performance and minimal power. I think such a design could be effective, but hardly magical, or capable of pole vaulting over Core 2.

Well, if it's a "NEW" design, then you're about to have your hopes dashed. If Barcelona is slipping into Q3 and AMD is putting most of their focus on that project, you can be sure that other projects are slipping as well. This would especially include projects that are dependent on the Barcelona core to feed back bug fixes and design changes to subsequent proliferation teams. IMO, Q4 of this year is out of the question.
