I buying S&P PUTs at market open. I had a chance to buy them at $25 before market close today but expected they would move S&P up to 1397 region at open and I was looking try and get them for about $21 or $1 a day time premium.

uncle, As I read the SPX options, the March options settlement price is set at the open today. After that the SPX price only affects the April. That would mean that the huge March open interest effect disappears after the open today.
I am not sure I am correct.
