fishweed: I can't answer that question, as I really don't use candlesticks much other than as a graphic representation as to which direction a time frame bar is headed...gg

And I haven't come across many technicians that really know how to read candlesticks well. Donald Sew knew how, but he and I ended our collaboration back in late 1999 or early 2000, I can't remember for sure...gg

I would speculate a guess based on more traditional technical analysis that the longer the time frame the greater the ultimate influence. Maybe someone reading the thread, that knows will step up to the plate and answer your question.

LG

PS: Later today, I am going to be unplugging for a few days, as I have no choice but to re-format my hard drive on this third string computer. Hopefully upon my return this thread will be purring right along.

I have said this many times before.
Before you talk candles, 3 black crows, etc you have to
get and read a book called "Beyond Candlesticks".

My personal observations have found daily candles to be more reliable on the stocks I watch fwiw. Many times I will view the same chart in each of the time frames, and ususally the daily seems to respond most to common candle patterns.

Hi Fishweed
Watch to see if the candles are red or white, or white or green, uptrending or downtrending. That is to say you want to watch the trailing tails and the bodies of the candles. If the trailing tails are holding higher support the stock is Uptrending, Buy it. If the candles are green it shows higher highs, Buy it. If the candles are Not holding support at the previous trailing tail and the candles are Red(white) then Sell it. You want to see Uptrending support and Green candles to feel comfortable holding a trade Long, JMHO. Black crows means consecutive Red(white) candles, Negative, White soldiers means consecutive White(Green) candles, Positive.
I hope this helps.
Enjoy the Evening Fish! :^)
Sorry for the chart, Candles should be Green and Red
