Oh contrary .... the costs really pile up right at the beginning and I bet that a retainer of $20,000 to commence is required.

Very little cost though unless you get to discovery and litigation. Most are thrown out long before...

Care to offer a little proof of that contention?

Why don't you share a link to those statistics for all the folks to see? And by the way, discovery usually begins very soon after a complaint is filed; in fact, in many cases the first discovery requests are served on the defendants along with service of the summons and complaint. "Litigation" is the entire process from filing a complaint through trial. Perhaps you meant to say trial rather than litigation.

LITIGATION - A case, controversy, or lawsuit. A contest authorized by law, in a court of justice, for the purpose of enforcing a right. Participants (plaintiffs and defendants) in lawsuits are called litigants.
