That if they want a piece of the minnow, the clock has started ticking!....you better get your slice before the drillbit hits the floor....because after that...

About the Aban Abraham

The Aban Abraham is a deep water drill ship currently undergoing
extensive refurbishment and modification at the Sembawang Shipyard in
Singapore. The Aban Abraham was built in Holland in 1976 as a world class
second generation drillship named the Pelerin. The drillship was operated from
1976 to 2002 in water depths of up to approximately 1,400 metres (4,600 feet)
offshore west Africa, Norway, eastern Canada and Brazil and then cold-stacked
until 2006 when purchased by Aban. When refurbishment is completed, scheduled
for later this year, the drill ship will be capable of drilling in water
depths of up to 2,100 metres (6,900 feet) having been upgraded from second
generation to fourth generation capability. Once commissioned, the Aban
Abraham will undertake drilling operations for a third party operator before
starting drilling operations for Addax Petroleum.

Thanks Ruby, but what I am looking for is confirmation about Anadarko drilling in 2007. If it is in the Afren release, I don't see it. Perhaps I am just missing it, and if so, my apologies.

Excellent news this morning Ruby. My IHub finally became error free this evening. I'm confident that Addax will evolve to be as expert with deep ocean drilling as they are with their off shore projects.

It's very good that they are committed to 3 wells in Bl 4, 1 on Bl2 and 1 for OPL 291. With an option for an additional 5 drills.

...not only for exploration. IMHO Addax is counting on hits leading to production.

I wonder if we'll see an operatorship in Bl 2 between Sinopec and Addax or a combination with ONGC?

Apparently, the rumors about the buy in are not going away at all. Hope to read an exciting announcement one day.
