Truth is, my point is not so much that I believe our board will be bothered by your Mod Squad, it is more that the principle and the precedent strike me as dangerous. I am sure your intentions are benign, but benign intentions do not always result in benign activities.
So that you understand, if I rephrased your concept, I could come up with “ The Mod Squad...a secret band of nameless, faceless, yet powerful people assigned to watch and assure compliance”.
Does this characterization not bring to mind the genesis of some of history’s worst possible moments?
You are free, of course, to do whatever you like. You, as a business enterprise, wish to keep these people as subscribers and to keep them happy. Fine. Assign an administrative assistant to perform a mentoring service if you think it is necessary and if the board and/or moderator desires it. Keep it simple.
Personally, I think letting the boards sink or swim on their own merits is really preferable, and will ultimately result in better quality boards and posts.
Just my thoughts for you...
