BUT I think posters here need to have the right not to be attacked and, in many cases, lied about just because some members 'who just couldn't separate how talking about people posting on the board was not talking about the stock.

That's always been associated with message boards: "You're a paid pumper/basher". That's been the case since message boards started. From Dave 2006: https://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=9357987 Sadly, it's gotten worse as social media has exploded.

That is something they should have learned in kindergarten, and if they haven't, now is the time. It's one thing to exchange some insults. No biggie.

You're preaching to the choir here. But I'm an Admin on a social media website, not their parent, spouse or employer.

And of course it's always fine to disagree. But as you've seen over the years, and especially during the time personal attack was largely okay, a great many IHubbers believe PAs are very easy to detect, anpd don't want others users to do it to them, even if those attacks could be filtered so they don't see them. That has nothing to do with transparency. It has to do with uncivil behavior.

Two points here - some people believe "that's the silliest thing I've ever read" is a personal attack. Others think calling someone an "asshole" is simply a mild insult. There are a lot of generations, different cultures and people from different walks of lives on this site. They tend to feel differently about what constitutes a "personal attack".

Second point - there's not a lot of civility or decorum these days in any public space.

What, for example, do you think of this?

I have always disagreed with this mindset.
