I watched the whole thing and you are exactly on point with your analysis. His conclusion was a question, "Do you love your children", so he really never proved any type of point. He just stated stuff that we've all been saying for years about inequality.
He personally put me off but others can interpret it however they wish. It was more of a speech about how he could be successful rather than how the audience might be able to. Looking up his biography, it's not like he started from any sort of humble roots either so, he never had the experience of waiting in line at a food bank.
