I've seen a couple shows on the island and enjoyed them.. Never knew about the fire. LOL I remember Meigs Field being a disaster and always just thought it was a spot for the uber wealthy to park their little toy planes before they boarded their yachts.
It would serve them well to plop a new stadium there and reclaim all the land around solider field but as we know a lot of that is just a couple century old garbage dump so there would really have to be some good engineers involved.
It might be too late in the process to change course now. All that planning is not cheap and someone has to pay for it. I still think Arlington Heights really screwed the pooch and Pritzger has already said that the state will not pick up the tab either.
Probably mumbled under his breath something about getting a real football team too. Same thing with the White Sox.
I said a few years ago when we were working in the old post office that the developers there had thousands of pages of plans to build south down the river on the vacant and somewhat occupied land there. I haven't kept up with it but I don't think they have broken any ground since. The pandemic probably stopped them from their high rise fascination.
